VeiDis Dongle - remote vehicle monitoring, diagnostics, etc ...

VeiDis Dongle (VDD) is a developed device that connects to the OBD platform sockets of the Volvo platforms 1, 2, 3, SPA, CMA, manufactured between 1999 and 2018.

VDD has a 2G GSM module, a proprietary M2M SIM card, bluetooth module, accelerometer and a special CAN converter, which can be used to diagnose the CAN BUS in the vehicle. VDD size is about 5 cm x 4.5 cm x 2.5 cm and is available in white and black.

VDD to date (March 1, 2018) is still going through a development that has already begun in 2015. The HW dongle is still not used to 100% and many features will still be open.

But we already offer a fairly decent foundation:

•  full remote diagnostics (reading + error deletion, calibration activation, DPF burning, service interval reset, etc ...)
•  monitoring the state of the vehicle battery from our viewpoint and from the vehicle view (State of Charge (SoC)
•  monitoring of vehicle operating conditions (temperature, fuel status, service status - when it occurs, consumption, daily rains, ...)
•  book of journeys (where to go, distance traveled, spent fuel, driver identification by key, ...)
•  activation of functions from mobile phone / PC (starting of independent heating, interior ventilation, lighting start, opening / closing of trunk, ...)
•  activating status-dependent functions (tilting mirrors and retrieving windows when locked, tilting the mirror at the back, ...)
•  roaming across the EU (the device works even if you travel to another country within Europe)

Functions that are already in sight:

•  display information on the instrument panel display (turbo pressure, fuel pressure, ignition, ...)
•  SOS in case of an accident (automatic contact of a close person in the event of a vehicle accident by SMS with GPS coordinates)
•  alarm function (detection of breakage of the window with accelerometer, detection of alarm startup, user notification via SMS)

Features we want to complete within 18 months:

•  full replacement for Volvo DiCE (who will have VDD, will be able to connect via bluetooth and Volvo VIDA / VDASH to the vehicle from the PC)
•  remote recording software (change vehicle configuration, increase performance, upgrade / reload units, ...)
•  and what else is going on ... 

Not all vehicle types in combination with the model year support all available VDD features. Every day, however, we add and expand support, so what is not supported today can be tomorrow.

To acquire and operate a VDD, you must have an active BASIC subscription for data transfer and basic service provision that can be purchased in the following variants:

6-month VDD BASIC for the price of £35*
12-month VDD BASIC for the price of £55* 
24-month VDD BASIC for the price of £95*

The maximum subscription period is 24 months and its extension is possible not earlier than 12 months before the end of the active subscription.

VDD BASIC includes:

•  monitoring the state of the vehicle battery from our viewpoint and from the vehicle view (State of Charge (SoC)
•  monitoring of vehicle operating conditions (temperature, fuel status, service status - when it occurs, consumption, daily rains, ...)
•  activation of functions from a mobile phone / PC (starting independent heating, venting the interior, starting the lighting, opening and closing the trunk)
•  showing the vehicle position after switching off the ignition
•  roaming within Europe
